Special to the Mercury
Those colorful vegetables you’re planting in the garden will be ready for a delicious spring dish before you know it. Central Texas Medical Center’s Institute for Healthy Living is offering, “Garden Cooking”, a free healthy cooking demonstration 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16 in the CTMC Community Classroom.
The cooking demonstration will be lead by CTMC’s dietary and nutrition team and focus on foods that grow well in this area. The program includes unique recipes along with samples and handouts of the recipes.
“Fresh vegetables and fruits should be a part of a daily diet,” said Alicia Westfall, the hospital’s Food and Nutrition Services manager. “Our healthy cooking demonstration will demonstrate creative ways to make a meal while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.”
The CTMC Institute for Healthy Living is pleased to offer a number of programs that emphasize living healthy and eating right. Programs and services include HealthCheck, Way 2 Go Kids, Weight Watchers and more.
