Osborne to speak at lecture series

021311osborneRandall Osborne will speak at San Marcos Academy Tuesday.


Randall Osborne, a professor of psychology at Texas State, will be the next speaker in San Marcos Academy’s (SMA) Distinguished Lecture Series Tuesday afternoon. The lecture, “Forensic Psychology: It May Not be CSI, But it is Still Pretty Interesting!” will take place on the academy’s campus at the school library at 2 p.m. The lecture is free and the public is invited to attend.

Osborne received his PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Texas and his BA in psychology from Indiana University. Osborne served as chair of the Behavioral and Social Science Division at Indiana University East. He has been with Texas State’s Department of Psychology since 2001.

While Osborne’s background is in social psychology, his teaching interests span the gamut from introductory psychology to psychology in the courtroom.

He has published numerous articles in scholarly journals, teaching journals and applied journals.. The author of more than twenty books, his subjects include textbooks, resource materials for faculty, a humor book and two fantasy adventure novels including Ring of Destiny, Ring of Fate.

Osborne serves as Vice-President for the Southwestern Region of Psi Chi Honor Society in Psychology.

This is the second year SMA has partnered with Texas State for the Distinguished Lecture Series. The four speakers for this year’s series are all on the faculty of the Psychology Department. The lectures allow SMA’s upper-level honors students to experience a college level lecture. The public is invited to join them.

The final speaker will be David Carpenter on March 31 at 2:30 p.m.
