The men’s and women’s basketball teams at Texas State both have important games on Saturday.
The men’s team, now one-half game out of first place in the Southland Conference, will play at home against Texas-Arlington (UTA) at 2:05 p.m. The Bobcats, 11-12 overall and 6-3 in the conference, have won three straight games overall and seven straight games at home.
Northwestern State defeated Lamar Thursday to take over first place alone in the league at 7-3. However, eight other teams in the Southland Conference are within two games of the top,
The Texas State women’s team will look for its first season sweep against a league opponent since 2009 when it goes to UTA Saturday (2 p.m.). The Bobcats claimed a 61-57 win at home against UTA earlier this season.
The Bobcats are 8-14 overall and 3-6 in the Southland Conference, where they are tied for eighth place with UTA. Thus, a Texas State win on Saturday would give the Bobcats a huge leg up on being one of the eight teams to be in the league tournament next month.
