San Marcos Academy’s (SMA) Fine Arts Department will present “Beauty and the Beast” at the Robinson Christian Center on the SMA campus Feb 17-19 at 7:30 p.m. The classic Disney production is free and open to the public.
The event will be SMA’s first in its newly remodeled facility. The Robinson Christian Center had a major renovation during the Christmas holiday. The auditorium features new carpeting, tile and seating. The facility has a capacity for 750 guests.
New stage lighting, also, will highlight the rotating backdrops featured in “Beauty and the Beast.” It is the first time SMA has used this kind of staging.
The cast of “Beauty and the Beast” includes Hattie Wesley in the title role of Beauty and Adam Rollins as the Beast. Additional cast members are Deli Xu as Lefou, Daniel Patman as Gaston, Wesley Williams as Maurice and Zoe Ruiz as Cogsworth. Zane Shirley plays Lumiere, Tiara Hansen is Babette, Darcy Stevens is Mrs. Potts, Emma Belzung is the Wardrobe and Ted Anderson is Monsieur d’Argue. Brendan Christensen and Hank Shirley will alternate as Chip.
The ensemble also includes Oby Okoye, Karen Malone, Ava Garia, Andrew Hansen, Beth Thielen, Rusti Wade and Hannah Paul.
The stage manager for the production is Justyn Hinson.
The production marks the sixth year of stage director Stacy Herron and musical director Dr. Arlis Hiebert collaborating on a musical for SMA.
