Texas State hosts women, gender research symposium

The Center for Multicultural and Gender Studies’ Women and Gender Research Collaborative at Texas State University will host Women and Gender, Population, and the Environment: Toward a Greater Understanding of the Intersections Between Social and Reproductive Justice, Health, and Sustainability Issues March 4 on campus.

The symposium will run from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the LBJ Student Center. The collaborative joins with the Common Experience team to illuminate the 2010-2011 Common Experience theme, “Sustainability: Science, Policy, and Opportunity.”

Featured speakers include Yun Zhou, professor of anthropology and population research, Peking University; Jie Tao, deputy director of women’s studies and professor of literature, retired, Peking University; Lijun Yuan, associate professor of philosophy, Texas State; Anne Deepak, assistant professor, school of social work, Texas State; Catherine Hawkins, professor, school of social work, Texas State; Nicole Jackson, doctoral candidate, department of history, Ohio State University.
