Police invite badge, patch designs

SUBMITTED REPORT

The San Marcos Police Department is redesigning the patch and badge on officer’s uniforms and invites design concepts from the community. The winner will receive a $250 gift card.

“You don’t need to be an artist,” said Assistant Police Chief Warren Zerr, who is leading the project. “If your entry is selected as the winner, a graphic design artist will work with you to get your design on paper.”

He encouraged entrants to “keep in mind what makes San Marcos special — the river, Texas State University, and the City’s history.”

Submissions should not have the entrant’s name on the design itself. Each entrant will be given a number and the entrants’ names will be known only to Zerr and department secretary Ramona Binkley.

Design entries are invited through 5 p.m. April 15 and may be submitted to Assistant Chief Zerr at zerr@sanmarcostx.gov or mailed to Zerr at San Marcos Police Department, 2300 South I-35, San Marcos, Texas 78666.

Categories will include Police Patch and Police Badge. The winning entrant in each category will receive a $250 gift card.

Members of the San Marcos Police Department will choose the top five designs in each category. The finalists will be judged by members of the community, Police Department, City officials and the San Marcos Police Officers Association.

  1. And the cost for changing the patch and badge will be? Isn’t the City supposed to be tightening the fiscal belt?

  2. Everybody knows how the morale shot thru the roof with the new black and white patrol cars. This new badge is going to be epic!
