The Texas State men’s basketball team started slowly and never recovered Saturday, losing, 83-66, at Texas-Arlington (UTA).
UTA scored the first eight points of the game and held a 44-30 halftime lead as the Bobcats shot only 34.5 percent (10 of 29) from the floor in the first half. Texas State never led during the game.
The Mavericks built their lead to 64-44 with 13:06 left in the game and cruised to the end.
Texas State fell to 8-12 overall and 3-3 in the Southland Conference. UTA is 10-9 and 4-2.
UTA’s Bo Ingram led all scorers with 16 points. Ryan White and Tony Bishop each scored 13 for the Bobcats. Bishop also had 10 rebounds to lead all players.
The Bobcats will return home Wednesday to play Stephen F. Austin (SFA). The game will start at approximately 7:30 p.m., after the Texas State and SFA women’s basketball teams play their game at Strahan Coliseum at 5:30 p.m. The SFA men’s team is 12-6 overall and 3-3 in the Southland Conference.
