Texas State to compete in RecycleMania

Texas State is taking part in RecycleMania 2011, a 10-week recycling competition between universities nationwide to see which can collect the most recyclables.

RecycleMania promotes recycling and waste management awareness by encouraging campuses to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

The event began on Sunday and runs through April 2. Texas State will enter several categories, submitting weights for paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum and recycled cell phones.

Texas State’s recycling program includes outdoor recycling receptacles throughout the campus for plastic bottles and aluminum cans. Additional indoor recycling receptacles are for plastic bottles, aluminum cans and paper.

Cardboard boxes should be broken down and placed behind the roll carts designated for paper.  For larger amounts of cardboard or paper, call the recycling center at (512) 245-7733 for a pick-up request or visit the website at for recycling pickup schedules and lists of items which may be recycled.
