San Marcos Academy holds remembrance service for Peña

San Marcos Academy (SMA) marked the one year anniversary of the death of academy alumnus Paul Peña with a school-side chapel service on Jan. 19. The academy’s Color Guard posted the colors and a short time of prayer and remembrance followed.

Peña was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan on Jan. 19, 2010. He was a member of SMA’s class of 2000 and the U.S.Military Academy’s class of 2004.

The SMA Color Guard includes cadets Tiara Hansen, Daniel Sexton, Alexey Hansen and Tony Tran. They are commanded by Cadet CSM Shane Boyer.

  1. I worked with Paul at Ft. Bragg & Afghanistan. He loved his Country, his Troopers, & The Army. Thank you for remembering Paul. I will never forget him.
