The San Marcos High School cast performing a scene from “Little Shop of Horrors.”
STAFF REPORT
The San Marcos High School (SMHS) Drama Boosters Club will present the rock-musical “Little Shop of Horrors” on two consecutive weekends in January.
Performances will be held Saturday and Sunday, then again on Jan. 29-30. The Saturday performances will start at 7 p.m. and the Sunday performances will be at 2 p.m.
All the shows will take place at the SMHS Performing Arts Center Black Box Theatre, 1301 North SH 123.
Directed by Jack Moore, the performance features colorful sets and catchy rock tunes. The SMHS production features many of the popular songs from the musical and movie.
The famous musical is actually based on a 1960 Roger Corman “B-Movie” classic film of the same name. The film is notable for being Jack Nicholson’s first starring role. The musical had a successful run on Broadway in 1982 and spawned a 1986 movie, as well.
Tickets for the SMHS production are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. The Black Box Theatre box office opens 30 minutes before each show. Tickets can be purchased from Moore or any cast member, as well.
