Fifth grader wins Crockett Geography Bee

In December, Crockett Elementary School hosted its first Geography Bee. The contest, sponsored by National Geographic and Google, tests knowledge of geography in both oral and written competitions.

Students competing in the “Bee” were in fourth and fifth grade. Of the 29 students participating, the winner was Whitaker Reid, a fifth grader in teacher Katherine Cornwell’s class.

Reid will take another written test in January that will be submitted to the State Geography Bee in Austin.
