The Texas State men’s basketball team went to the home of Southland Conference front runner McNeese State Saturday and lost, 97-92.
McNeese State won its tenth straight home court victory, improving to 11-5 overall and 3-0 in the Southland Conference. Texas State, which broke a three-game winning streak, fell to 6-10 and 1-1.
Texas State built a lead of 28-19 with 7:55 left in the first half, but McNeese rallied to a 42-39 halftime lead. McNeese maintained that lead throughout the second half, but never led by more than seven points.
Eddie Rios led the Bobcats with 21 points. J.B. Conley had 17 points and nine rebounds, while Tony Bishop had 17 points and eight rebounds.
Stephan Martin scored 22 points for McNeese, followed by Patrick Richard with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bobcats will play Wednesday at Strahan Coliseum against Sam Houston State (7 p.m.).
The Texas State women’s basketball team also fell, 82-66, to McNeese State Saturday at Strahan Coliseum. The Bobcats fell to 5-10 overall and 0-2 in the Southland Conference, while McNeese improved to 11-5 and 3-0.
Diamond Ford scored 21 points to lead the Bobcats. McNeese State’s Ashlyn Baggett scored 26 points to lead all scorers.
Texas State will play at Sam Houston State Wednesday (6:30 p.m.).
