The Texas State women’s basketball team chalked up an easy victory Monday night, swamping Huston-Tillotson, 105-65, at Strahan Coliseum.
The Bobcats placed five players in double figures as they improved to 5-8 in their final game before starting up the Southland Conference schedule. Texas State will play its first league game Saturday at Northwestern State (2 p.m.).
Huston-Tillotson actually held a 4-2 lead a minute into Monday’s game, but Texas State stormed to a 26-11 advantage nine minutes later. Five Bobcats scored during the run, led by eight points from Diamond Ford.
By halftime, the Bobcats held a 53-28 lead. The Bobcats continued building their lead in the second, reaching their largest margin when India Johnson made a free throw to reach the 105-65 final score with 15 seconds remaining.
Chika Ofoegbu led the Bobcats with 17 points, followed by Ford with 16. Also reaching double figures for Texas State were Ashley Shoemaker with 13 points, Ashley Ezeh with 12 and Kelsey Krupa with 11.
Porsche Revely and Kevetta Williams each scored 16 points for Huston-Tillotson, which fell to 3-8.
