Extra toys from the San Marcos Police Department’s Blue Santa were presented to poor children in Monclova, Coahuila.
The San Marcos Police Department’s (SMPD) Blue Santa program received enough contributions this year to bring a little more Christmas to Monclova, Coahuila, which is San Marcos’ sister city in Mexico.
SMPD Officer Danny Arredondo said the extra toys collected for the local Blue Santa program were taken to Monclova, where they were presented to some of the city’s poorest children. Many toys were donated by a toy liquidator.
“Upon observing the poverty there and the fact that most of those children don’t ever get to experience a Christmas at all, we decided that we would take the remaining toys down there and deliver them to children in the most poverty stricken schools in the city,” Arredondo said.
The San Marcos program made arrangements to have the toys taken to Monclova, where they were distributed by Rotary Club members, Monclova city officials and volunteers. SMPD Records Manager Rosanna Wisener and her family assisted in arranging for the distribution.Email | Print
