City to accept Christmas trees through Jan. 16

STAFF REPORT

The San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department will accept Christmas trees for recycling from through Jan.16 in the parking lot at the Grant Harris Building, 401 East Hopkins Street.

Residents are asked to remove all ornaments and lights and place the trees in the fenced enclosure next to the stage.

Mulch from the trees is available free to the public. Residents must load the mulch on their own vehicles. The remaining mulch will be used on city parks.

San Marcos residents who want to dispose of Christmas trees at the curb through Texas Disposal Systems (TDS) should call the city’s public services department at (512) 393-8026 to arrange for a bulky waste pick up. Those interested must call by 2 p.m. on the day before scheduled trash day.

The next bulk pick up week is January 3-7.
