City honors Dvorak, Zook

The City of San Marcos recently honored two retirees from the police and fire departments.

Former Mayor Susan Narvaiz was on site to present a proclamation honoring assistant chief of police Lisa Dvorak. Dvorak retired on Nov. 30 after 32 years of service with the San Marcos Police Department. Attendees included police chief Howard Williams as well as police commanders Bob Klett, Penny Dunn and Chase Stapp. San Marcos council members (past and present) included Kim Porterfield, Ryan Thomason, Fred Terry and Gaylord Bose.

Battalion Chief Bob Zook was also honored by mayor Daniel Guerrero. Zook was recognized for his 23 years of service with the San Marcos Fire Department. His official retirement date is set for Jan. 1, 2011. Zook began his career as a fire fighter eventually ending his career as a battalion chief. Attendees for the ceremony included fire chief Les Stephens, and council members Ryan Thomason and Shane Scott.
