Despite shooting 62 percent from the floor, Texas State fell to Northeastern, 86-78, in their final game at the Cancun Governor’s Cup in Cancun, Mexico, on Dec. 24.
The Bobcats lost two of the three games they played in the tournament and now are 3-9. The Bobcats will next play against Texas-Tyler Friday at Strahan Coliseum (1 p.m.).
Texas State took a 48-34 halftime lead against Northeastern by making 68 percent of its shots (17 of 25) in the first half.
However, Northeastern rallied from the free-throw line in the second half, hitting 23 of 31 free tosses after intermission. For the game, Northeastern made 25 of 34 free throws (73.5 percent), compared with 16 of 23 (69.6 percent) for Texas State.
Jonathan Lee of Northeastern led all scorers with 22 points. Jonathan Sloan led the Bobcats with 14 points.
