The Texas State women’s basketball team survived a tight encounter Tuesday night at Strahan Coliseum, defeating Texas Southern, 84-81, in overtime.
The game featured 12 lead changes and 10 ties, knotting at 73-73 through regulation time. Led by two baskets from Ashley Ezeh, the Bobcats put up an 8-0 run in overtime, turning a 77-73 deficit into an 81-77 lead with 43 seconds left in the extra period.
The Bobcats improved to 4-7 with the win. Texas Southern fell to 2-8.
Texas State’s Diamond Ford and Texas Southern’s Gabrielle Rosiji each scored 24 points to lead all scorers.
The Texas State women’s team will next play Rice on Dec. 30 at Strahan Coliseum (7 p.m.).
The Texas State men’s team will try to enhance its 2-7 record Wednesday night as it opens in the Cancun Governor’s Cup against Mississippi (5 p.m.). The Rebels are 7-2. The Bobcats will play the winner of a first-round game between Appalachian State and Colorado State in the tournament’s second round.Email | Print
