The Boys and Girls Club of South Central Texas (BGCSCT) was selected by Payless ShoesSource to be a part of the company’s “Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids Holiday Giving Program.” Some members of the club received a free pair of shoes last week at the Payless shoe store, 929 SH 80.
“We can not thank Payless enough for their generosity,” said Daphne M. McDole, coordinator of business and community development for BGCSCT. “A great pair of shoes can lift spirits, bolster self confidence and bring a huge smile to a child’s face. This program aligns with our mission to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.”
The BGCSCT is among 800 charitable agencies selected for the Payless program. The company selected agencies from all 50 states in the U.S., as well as Canada, Puerto Rico and 10 Latin American countries to be a part of their shoe donation.
Said LuAnn Via, CEO of Payless, “The success of the program over the past two years, and the number of children and families we have been able to assist, continues to drive our efforts. Unemployment is still very high, affecting many families that struggle to provide their children with basic essentials. This is especially challenging during the holidays, and with Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas help, we hope to make a bigger impact than ever this year.”
The BGCSCT provides services for youth that reside in Caldwell, Comal, Hays and Guadalupe counties. For more information about BGCCT, contact Daphne M. McDole at (512) 805-3000 or visit www.bgsct.org.
