Poor shooting drops Bobcats again

Yet another dismal shooting performance doomed the Texas State men’s basketball team to yet another loss Sunday. The Bobcats shot 32.8 percent (19 for 58) in an 85-62 loss at North Texas.

Making only seven of 27 field goal attempts in the first half, the Bobcats fell behind, 40-25, at intermission.

Texas State fell to 2-7 with the loss. North Texas is 9-2.

While Texas State struggled with its shots, North Texas made 53.6 percent (30 of 56) of its field goal attempts.

Texas State’s Cameron Johnson led all scorers with 22 points. Johnson also made seven rebounds to lead the Bobcats.

North Texas forward George Odufuwa made nine of 12 shots, scoring 20 points to lead the Mean Green. Odufuwa also was the game’s top rebounder with eight. North Texas guard Josh White added 18 points.

The Bobcats move on to the Cancun Governor’s Cup Wednesday through Friday in Cancun, Mexico. The Bobcats will tip off against Mississippi Wednesday at 5 p.m. In Thursday’s second round, the Bobcats will play either Appalachian State or Colorado State.
