Goodnight Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) has been busy this holiday season giving back to the community.
First, honor society members collected more than 250 pounds of food, which they contributed to the Hays County Food Bank for the holidays. The NJHS held a school-wide donation program to get the items.
The NJHS also led the Goodnight student body in raising $1,439.90 for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. The students competed in their second period classes to see which class could raise the most money. Roxana Heiser’s class raised $269.98 to take first place honors, with Wendy Zeiger’s class coming in second with $265.26. NJHS members collected the money during a three-week period.
The NJHS sponsors are Cheryl Blake and Chris Goode.
