Street and utility work expected to affect local traffic this week will include an interstate exit closure for Aquarena Springs Drive. The completion of the project at E. McCarty Lane is almost ready, with the grand opening scheduled for Dec. 17.
Southbound Interstate 35 at exit ramp 206: Construction is underway at Aquarena Springs Drive-Loop 82 exit. From Dec. 20 to Jan. 17, the exit ramp will be closed with construction occurring six days a week. Motorists will use Exit 207-River Ridge Parkway and travel on the southbound frontage road to access Aquarena Springs Drive. Lane closures will occur on the frontage road, but access will be available at all times for motorists, school buses and emergency vehicles. Project completion scheduled for mid-Feb. 2011. - Qual Run Water Improvements: Quail Run residents and property owners near the Oakridge water pump station at the end of Harmon’s Way will notice water line construction underway. The project includes construction of 8,600 feet of 12-inch water line from the Oakridge pumping station to the Kingswood subdivision at the intersection of Quail Run and Hamilton Hollow. The existing 4-inch line that serves the Sleepy Hollow neighborhood will also be replaced. Project completion expected in June 2011. Capital Improvements, 512-393-8130.
- Prospect-Bishop Drainage Improvements: Construction is beginning on a drainage improvement project in the 1300 block of Prospect Street and the 600 block of Bishop Street. Motorists should be aware of traffic flaggers, construction workers and heavy equipment. Capital Improvements, 512-393-8130.
- East McCarty Lane: Grand opening celebration is scheduled for December 17 at 10 a.m. and the road will open immediately following, weather permitting. Until Dec. 17, both lanes will remain closed in each direction from Interstate 35 frontage road to Old Bastrop Highway. Local access for residents will remain but school, postal, emergency and other motorists will be detoured to Clovis R. Barker Road or Centerpoint Road. Capital Improvements, 512-393-8130.

- Edward Gary Street and South LBJ Drive: The intersection at the 200-300 block of S. LBJ Dr. is open but utility work will occur periodically and traffic will be detoured to San Antonio Street. This is part of the Waterline Encasements project. Capital Improvements, 512-393-8130.
- South LBJ Drive: 200 – 300 block, the northbound right lane will be closed for utility work. Estimated completion in December as water line issues have been encountered. This is part of the Waterline Encasement Project to upgrade the City’s waterline crossings at the railroad tracks. Capital Improvements, 512-393-8130.
- Ebony Street and Parker Drive: The intersection is open but drainage improvement project continues with detours. Traffic will detour to Hwy 123, Hays Street, Parker Drive, Broadway Street, Oakdale Drive, Patricia Drive and Ebony Street. The project consists of construction on Ebony Street and the 100 – 400 block of Parker Drive to install a concrete drainage channel and pipe system. Construction will continue until Jan. 2011. - Craddock Avenue Extension: The Bishop-Craddock intersection and Purgatory Park Road will have alternating lane closures into Dec. for street light installation and landscaping. Capital Improvements, 512-393-8130.
- Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Study: Uniformed inspectors will begin above ground manhole inspections and testing through end of Dec. within local neighborhoods to include: Westover, Heritage, Dunbar, Southwest Hills, Oak Heights, Park Place, Weatherford Heights, Coers Street and Holland Street.
