At the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) State One-Act Play Contest, the San Marcos Academy Players took second place. The event was held at Prince of Peace School in Carrollton on Nov. 30.
Performing the Reduced Shakespeare Company’s comedic 30-minute version of “Hamlet,” the SMA players also won individual awards in the contest.
Adam Rollins, a junior from Wimberley, was named Best Actor and senior Zoe Ruiz of Concan, TX, was selected for the all-star cast. Zane Shirley, an SMA sophomore from Kyle, received honorable mention.
The stage manager for the performance was Justyn Hinson, a junior from San Marcos. Freshman Jozsef Smith of Kyle handled the lighting and sophomore Anne Reese of Tyler also was a cast and crew member. The play was directed by Don Rollins.
An encore performance of the play will be presented on the campus of San Marcos Academy at the Robinson Christian Center on Dec. 9 at 1:15 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
