Child dies after alleged injury at day care center

Kyle police reported Monday that a 10-week-old child allegedly injured at a day care center on Nov. 18 has died.

The death occurred early on the morning of Nov. 25, Thanksgiving day.

The day after the injury, the Kyle Police Department (KPD) arrested the owner of a Kyle day care center for injury to a child, which is a first degree felony.

The KPD arrested Christina Lyons, 32, owner of the Little Lyons Cub Day Care at 561 Keystone Loop, on Nov. 19. Lyons was released on Nov. 20 on $50,000 bond.

On Nov. 18, KPD responded to the home-based day care for reported injuries to a 10-week-old child. The child was transported to Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin with head injuries. Investigating officers said in the probable cause affidavit that they believe the account given by Lyons was inconsistent with the child’s injuries.

KPD is not releasing the name of the child due to privacy concerns for the family.

  1. my condolences to the family for their loss. 10 weeks old? that already must have been heartbreaking to leave a BABY that young with someone else…….why does the article keep saying ‘child’?

  2. If the owner’s account of the incident was sufficiently inconsistent to allow her to be charged with injury to a child in the first place, shouldn’t the charges now be upgraded to murder or manslaughter? If the injuries were really caused by her actions, then she should go away for a long, long time. There isn’t a hot enough corner of hell for those who would do harm to a child…..
