Traffic Report: 11/28/10 to 12/04/10

There are several projects affecting San Marcos traffic for the week of Nov. 28 – Dec. 4. Among those locations facing road closures because of the installation of water lines are Field and Sycamore Street.

FIELD STREET: 1000 – 1100 block, closed to through traffic between Haynes Drive and McKinnon until the end of December for installation of 8-inch water line. Local access for residents only. Rio Vista Terrace Neighborhood Infrastructure project.  Capital Improvements, 393.8130.

SYCAMORE STREET: 900 – 1100 block, closed to through traffic until the end of December for installation of 8-inch water line. Local access for residents only. Rio Vista Terrace Neighborhood Infrastructure project. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.

RIO VISTA STREET & MCKINNON: construction underway from Haynes Drive to Cheatham Street to install storm sewer, water and wastewater services. Rio Vista Terrace Neighborhood Infrastructure project. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.

HAYNES DRIVE: street construction and paving beginning on Haynes Drive from Riverside Drive to Cheatham Street and continuing throughout December. Rio Vista Terrace Neighborhood Infrastructure project. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.

CHEATHAM STREET: 1000 block, the designated right turn lane on to Rio Vista Street will be closed through December. Motorists may continue to Cheatham-Rio Vista intersection to turn right. Rio Vista Terrace Neighborhood Infrastructure project. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.

RIVERSIDE DRIVE: is open to traffic with utility construction continuing until further notice. Rio Vista Terrace Neighborhood Infrastructure project. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.

EDWARD GARY STREET & SOUTH LBJ DRIVE: intersection at 200-300 block S LBJ Dr is open but utility work will occur periodically and traffic will be detoured to San Antonio Street. This is part of the Waterline Encasements project. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.

SOUTH LBJ DRIVE: 200 – 300 block, the northbound right lane will be closed for utility work.  Estimated completion in December as water line issues have been encountered. This is part of the Waterline Encasement Project to upgrade the City’s waterline crossings at the railroad tracks. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.

COMANCHE STREET: is open between West Martin Luther King Drive and Hutchison Street with trench paving complete and final cleanup underway. Crews will return in 2011 to complete the Hopkins-Comanche intersection. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.

EAST MCCARTY LANE: Opening date has been postponed due to construction issues and material supply delays.Both lanes will remain closed in each direction from IH 35 frontage road to Old Bastrop Highway until mid-December. Local access for residents will remain but school, postal, emergency and other motorists will be detoured to Clovis R. Barker Road or Centerpoint Road. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.

EBONY STREET & PARKER DRIVE: intersection is open but drainage improvement project continues with detours.  Traffic will detour to Hwy 123, Hays Street, Parker Drive, Broadway Street, Oakdale Drive, Patricia Drive and Ebony Street. The project consists of construction on Ebony Street and the 100 – 400 block of Parker Drive to install a concrete drainage channel and pipe system. Construction will continue until January 2011. CRADDOCK AVENUE EXTENSION: between Bishop-Craddock intersection and Purgatory Park Road will have alternating lane closures from the end of November into December for street light installation and landscaping. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.

SANITARY SEWER EVALUATION STUDY: Uniformed inspectors will begin above ground manhole inspections and testing through end of December within local neighborhoods to include: Westover, Heritage, Dunbar, Southwest Hills, Oak Heights, Park Place, Weatherford Heights, Coers Street and Holland Street. SOUTHBOUND I-35 RIGHT LANE AT EXIT RAMP 206: right lane closed from one mile north of exit ramp 206 Aquarena Springs-LP 82 to exit ramp 206 on November 30 & December 1 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for installation of traffic barriers for River Ridge Entrance Ramp Project. DOWNTOWN ADA IMPROVEMENTS: construction will take place on many of the handicap ramps throughout the downtown area.  Lanes will be closed but the streets will remain open.  Scheduled completion is end of December. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.

SAN ANTONIO STREET: 100 block, half a block closed from alley to N. LBJ every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. until December 11 for the Farmer’s Market on the Square. Main Street Program, 393.8430.
