Representatives from Hays County Food Bank accept a donation of money and food from Travis Elementary School Principal Niki Koneki and members of the school’s Early Act/First Knight program.
Members of Travis Elementary School’s Early Act/First Knight program conducted a successful service project to raise money for the Hays County Food Bank and help financially stressed people enjoy Thanksgiving dinner.
The fall semester student project raised $624.40 in addition to canned goods for the food bank.
This week, some of the Early Act/First Knight program students and Travis Principal Niki Koneci presented a check and the non-perishable food items to Hays County Food Bank representatives for their “Turkeys Tackling Hunger” initiative.
Early Act/First Knight is a program stressing ethics and citizenship and founded by the Rotary Club. The program seeks to instruct, motivate and equip students to seek high knightly standards and personal excellence, through which they can better serve their communities through knowledge, wisdom and compassion.
