‘Night at the Theatre Gala’ planned for Nov. 30

The Sights & Sounds Gala committee presents a “Night at the Theatre Gala” on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. at the City of San Marcos Conference Center, 1001 E. McCarty Lane.

Gala organizers urge residents to reserve their tickets now for the event that features entertainment by the San Marcos High School theatre arts department and a plated holiday dinner. All proceeds benefit the Sights & Sounds of Christmas festival.

Individual tickets to the event are $45 with table sponsorships available at $450 for a table of eight and $550 for a table of ten.  Tickets are available by reservation only and will not be sold at the door.

Under the direction of Mr. Jack Moore, the SMHS Theatre Arts Department will open their 2010-2011 season at the holiday gala with scenes from its production of “The Dark Lady of the Sonnets” by George Bernard Shaw and an abbreviated student play adaption of The Twelve Days of Christmas.

The gala is held on the eve of the Sights & Sounds festival, a four-day event that begins on Dec. 1 on the banks of the San Marcos River. The 24th annual festival features thousands of holiday lights, food for all tastes, rides, angel choirs, historic Bethlehem animals and photos with Jolly St. Nick.

For gala ticket reservations, please call Heather Powdrill, gala co-chair, at (512) 393-8420 or visit for more information on the Sights & Sounds of Christmas event.
