Michael Martin Murphey, the singing Cowboy poet, will bring the Cowboy Christmas Ball to Texas State on Dec. 4.
It’s time once again for the Cowboy Christmas Ball at the LBJ Student Center Ball Room. The annual event, featuring “singing cowboy poet” Michael Martin Murphey and the Texas State Chamber Orchestra, will take place on Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
Murphey and his Rio Grande Band will play some old favorites accompanied by the chamber orchestra. The Murphey-created show also includes his original cowboy songs and poetry, as well as traditional Christmas songs and frontier dance tunes. Murphey started the program to protect the tradition of cowboy music and poetry. He is the number one best-selling singer/songwriter of American Cowboy music.
Attendees to the ball have the option to dress in Cowboy tux, cowboy casual or 1800s period costume. There will be a cash bar.
Tickets for the event are $25. Reserved seating may be purchased online or by calling (512) 245-3501. For more information on the event, visit www.encoreseries.txstate.edu/.Email | Print
