Water crews still working on Sessom water main break

City water utility crews were still trying to restore water flow to a 12-inch water line shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday after a main break late Saturday disrupted service and closed Sessom Drive between Peques Street and North LBJ Drive.

Residents of Tree House Apartments, the Chautauqua Center and the physical plant at Texas State were without water for most of Sunday after the main broke at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

A boil water advisory will be issued to affected customers due to the loss of water pressure until the water can be tested.

Sessom Drive will remain partially closed Monday as road crews continue repairs on the street. Motorists are asked to drive carefully in the area. One westbound lane was opened Sunday evening to traffic.

Sessom Drive is a major roadway serving Texas State campus. The 12-inch main was encased in concrete, making it difficult for crews to find the extent of the line fracture, said Jon Clack, the city of San Marcos assistant director of public services.
