Updated: Sessom Drive reopened after water main repaired

UPDATED 3 p.m. NOV. 22: Sessom Drive re-opened Monday as road crews completed temporary repairs on the street following a 12-inch water line break Saturday. Street crews will make additional repairs to the area this week.

City water utility crews restored water flow to a 12-inch water line shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday when a main break late Saturday disrupted service and closed Sessom Drive between Peques and N. LBJ Drive.

Residents of Tree House Apartments, the Chautauqua Center and the Physical Plant at Texas State University were without water for most of Sunday after the main broke about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

A boil water advisory effective until 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23 was issued to affected customers as a precaution so that water quality can be tested.

SUBMITTED REPORT

City water utility crews were in the process of restoring water flow to a 12-inch water line shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday after a main break late Saturday disrupted service and closed Sessom Drive between Peques and N. LBJ Drive.

Residents of Tree House Apartments, the Chautauqua Center and the Physical Plant at Texas State University were without water for most of Sunday after the main broke about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

A boil water advisory will be issued to affected customers due to the loss of water pressure until the water can be tested.

Sessom Drive will remain partially closed on Monday as road crews continue repairs on the street. Motorists are asked to drive carefully in the area. One westbound lane was opened Sunday evening to traffic.

Sessom is a major roadway serving the Texas State University campus. The 12-inch main was encased in concrete, making it difficult for crews to find the extent of the line fracture, said Jon Clack, Assistant Director of Public Services, Water/ Wastewater Utility.
