Street and utility work expected to affect local traffic this week:
SOUTHBOUND IH 35 CENTERPOINT ROAD EXIT RAMP AND NORTHBOUND IH 35 MCCARTY LANE EXIT RAMP: This will be closed Thursday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26 due to Black Friday after Thanksgiving shopping day. COMANCHE STREET: between West Martin Luther King Drive and Hutchison Street is open to traffic with water line trench paving complete. Crews will return after the Christmas Holidays to complete the Hopkins-Comanche intersection. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.
EDWARD GARY STREET & SOUTH LBJ DRIVE: intersection at 200-300 block S LBJ Drive will be closed through November for utility work. Traffic will be detoured to San Antonio Street. This is part of the Waterline Encasements project. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.
EAST MCCARTY LANE: Opening date has been postponed due to construction issues and material supply delays. Both lanes will remain closed in each direction from IH 35 frontage road to Old Bastrop Highway until mid-December. Local access for residents will remain but school, postal, emergency and other motorists will be detoured to Clovis R. Barker Road or Centerpoint Road. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.
SANITARY SEWER EVALUATION STUDY: Uniformed inspectors will begin above ground manhole inspections and testing through the end of December within local neighborhoods to include: Westover, Heritage, Dunbar, Southwest Hills, Oak Heights, Park Place, Weatherford Heights, Coers Street and Holland Street. SOUTH LBJ DRIVE: 200 – 300 block, the northbound right lane will be closed for utility work. Estimated completion is in December. This is part of the Waterline Encasement Project to upgrade the City’s waterline crossings at the railroad tracks. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.

FIELD STREET: 1100 block, closed to through traffic between Haynes Drive and McKinnon until the end of November for utility construction. Rio Vista Terrace Neighborhood Infrastructure project. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.
HAYNES DRIVE: Utility construction continuing until further notice on Haynes Drive from Riverside Drive to Cheatham Street, and on Rio Vista Street and McKinnon from Haynes Drive to Cheatham Street to install storm sewer, water and wastewater services. EBONY STREET & PARKER DRIVE intersection is open but drainage improvement project continues with detours. Traffic will detour to Hwy 123, Hays Street, Parker Drive, Broadway Street, Oakdale Drive, Patricia Drive and Ebony Street. The project consists of construction on Ebony Street and the 100 – 400 block of Parker Drive to install a concrete drainage channel and pipe system. Construction will continue until January 2011. CRADDOCK AVENUE EXTENSION: between Bishop-Craddock intersection and Purgatory Park Road will have alternating lane closures from the end of November into December for street light installation and landscaping. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.
DOWNTOWN ADA IMPROVEMENTS: construction will take place on many of the handicap ramps throughout the downtown area. Lanes will be closed but the streets will remain open. Scheduled completion is late November. Capital Improvements, 393.8130.
