Public invited to downtown code small group sessions

The City of San Marcos planning and development services department has several upcoming interactive group sessions and a downtown tour on Nov. 30 to invite public input and understanding of a development code specific to downtown San Marcos. The small group sessions will be:

  • Monday, Nov. 22, 6 p.m., San Marcos Fish Hatchery, 206 N. CM Allen Pkwy.
  • Thursday, Dec. 9, 6 p.m., Southside Community Center, 518 S. Guadalupe.

The walk/bike tours will be:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 30, 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., Hays County Courthouse.

The sessions are designed to provide opportunities for citizens and stakeholders to present views and ask questions regarding the proposed downtown code in a small group atmosphere. The walking and biking tour through downtown on November 30 provides two opportunities at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. for citizens to gain firsthand knowledge of proposed coding details while viewing the downtown streetscape.

“We invite citizens to join us at the courthouse for the one hour guided tours,” said senior planner Sofia Nelson. “Downtown is filled with a variety of streetscapes and many opportunities for revitalization that can best be appreciated on foot or on bicycle.”

Tour attendees may bring their own bike or reserve a bike by calling the development services department at 393.8230 by noon on Monday, Nov. 29. For more information on the small group sessions or to RSVP for the downtown tours, please contact Francis Serna at (512) 393.8230 or email
