City repairing water main on South LBJ Drive

SUBMITTED REPORT

City of San Marcos water utility crews expected to complete repairs by 7 p.m. Wednesday on a broken water main at the intersection of South Lyndon B. Johnson Drive and Edward Gary Street.

The 12-inch main broke around noon Wednesday, interrupting water service to approximately 20 residents and businesses on Guadalupe Street between San Antonio Street and the railroad tracks that run behind the Hays County Justice Center at 100 E. Martin Luther King Drive.

The water line was expected to be back in service before 7 p.m. Wednesday evening and a boil water notice was distributed to all those affected.  Boil water notices are routinely sent out as a precaution when a water line loses pressure while the city tests water quality in the line.

The water main break occurred as workers attempted to close a valve in preparation for construction activities for the waterline improvements at the railroad tracks on South LBJ Drive. Construction crews from the City of San Marcos and KIVA, Inc. were onsite.
