Robyn R. Rogers, a psychology faculty member at Texas State, will give the first in a series of lectures at San Marcos Academy on Wednesday.
San Marcos Academy (SMA), in conjunction with Texas State, will offer the Distinguished Lecture Series for the second year beginning Wednesday on the SMA campus. The lectures are free and open to the public.
The first lecture is scheduled to be from Robyn R. Rogers, a senior lecturer, licensed professional counselor (LPC), and certified reality therapist (CRT,) at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the SMA library. Rogers has has served on the faculty in psychology at Texas State for more than 20 years.
Rogers’ presentation will be based on psychiatrist William Glasser’s reality therapy and choice theories. His ideas are based on personal choice, responsibility and transformation. Rogers presentation will focus on how people can make better choices in their lives by satisfying Glasser’s “Basic Needs” in relationships.
Additional lectures in the series include Dr. Amy Meeks on Feb. 8, Dr. Randall Osborne on Feb. 15, and David Carpenter on March 31.
Selected SMA students in the honors program will attend the lectures, giving them a preview of university-level classes.
