Theater shaking things up with Shakespeare, Presley

Elvis Presley fans will soon be able to sway to his familiar classics at a musical production featuring Texas State students that begins Nov. 10.

“All Shook Up”, a musical production from Tony-award winner Joe DiPetro with direction by Kailtin Hopkins will be performed at the Mainstage University Theatre, 430 Moon St.

The musical comedy is based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, and features songs from the iconic rock legend. It is about a small-town girl that has big dreams. A guitar playing motorcycle-riding roustabout soon interrupts her quiet country life. The romance story features over 20 of Presley’s greatest hits including “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Blue Suede Shoes”.

The show will be performed over a two-week period with evening performances Nov. 10-13 and Nov. 17-20 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Sunday presentations on Nov. 14 and Nov. 21 will begin at 2 p.m.
