Shakespeare meets Elvis Presley in Texas State’s production of “All Shook Up.”
The Texas State Department of Theatre and Dance will stage Joe DiPietro’s Tony Award winning musical play, “All Shook Up” this month on the main stage of the Theatre Center on campus. Performances are scheduled for Nov. 10-13 and 17-20 at 7:30 p.m.. and Nov. 14 and 21 at 2 p.m.
“All Shook Up” is a blend of Shakespeare and Elvis as the rock ‘n’ roll musical comedy features music of the “king” with drama based on “the bard.” The plot is formed around Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” and features more than 20 of Presley’s hits including “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” and “Blue Suede Shoes.”
Directed by Kaitlin Hopkins, “All Shook Up” is choreographed by Robin Lewis and is under the musical direction of Greg Bolin.
