The Texas State soccer team is the home team for the Southland Conference Tournament this weekend.
The Bobcats will open the tournament Thursday at 7 p.m. as the fourth seed, playing No. 5 Sam Houston State.
The Bobcats beat Sam Houston, 4-1, last Sunday in Huntsville to end the regular season. Four different Texas State players scored, including Britney Curry, who scored her 13th goal of the year. Curry also had an assist, giving her 30 points for the year. Curry, a senior, has scored 50 goals in her career.
Texas State is 13-5 all-time in Southland Conference Tournament games with an 8-2 record in the first round.
The Bobcats finished the regular season 11-7-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the Southland Conference for fourth place. Southeastern won the league at 14-2-3 and 7-1-1, followed by Stephen F. Austin (13-5-1, 6-2-1).
The winner of the Texas State-Sam Houston game in the first round will advance to play top-seeded Southeastern Louisiana Friday at 7 p.m.
Texas State lost at home to Southeastern Louisiana, 1-0, on Oct. 24. The Bobcats also lost at SFA, 1-0, on Oct. 29.
Leading up to those two games, Texas State beat Nicholls State, 4-0, at home. Four different Bobcats scored in that game.Email | Print
