CTMC names new top administrator

Sam Huenergardt.

Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) has named Sam Huenergardt as its new president and chief executive officer, replacing Gary L. Jepson, who announced his resignation in September.

Huenergardt will begin his duties at the 178-bed facility on Dec. 6.

“I am honored and blessed to serve in this new capacity,” Huenergardt said. “My family and I look forward to getting to know the CTMC team and become active members of this community.”

Huenergardt is the chief operating officer for Gordon Hospital, an Adventist Health System (AHS) facility located in Calhoun, GA. Since starding at Gordon in 2005, according to CTMC officials, Huenergardt has strengthened the financial position of the hospital by opening more managed care relationships and focusing on improving productivity.

Before joining Gordon Hospital, Huenergardt was Controller at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, an AHS hospital in Shawnee Mission, KS.

Huenergardt holds a masters degree in business administration from Baker University and a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Union College.

Huenergardt, an avid golfer, has a wife, Melissa, and they are the parents of two young children, Christian and Chloe.

“I am very excited about working with Sam,” said Ken Finch, president and CEO of the Adventist Health System Southwest Region. “We selected him for his extensive experience in physician relationships, personal involvement in community activities and proven success at efficiently operating hospital services.”

Jepson, the hospital’s former CEO, announced his departure from CTMC after 9 years to pursue new opportunities.
