Professional dancers from the German dance company Tanz Compagnie Giessen are in “Artistic Residency” this week at Texas State’s Department of Theatre and Dance. The Artistic Residency features public lectures and open rehearsals with Texas State’s Merge Dance Company highlighting choreography, professional style and multicultural dance trends.
Wednesday, a lecture will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. as the world renowned artistic director of Tanz Compagnie Giessen, Tarek Assam, discusses “German Choreographers and the German Dance Scene.” A rehearsal will be held from 6-8 p.m.
Thursday, a rehearsal will take place from 6-8 p.m. On Oct. 15 will be a rehearsal from 6-8 p.m.
All events will take place at Texas State’s Jowers Building, Room 178, 194 Charles Austin Drive.
Merge Dance Company’s objective in the rehearsals is in preparation for the 2011 spring dance program as well as the sharing of dance knowledge from the professionals of Tanz Compagnie Giessen in the Artistic Residency Program.
