Tanger Outlet Center sells Pink Card for breast cancer research

STAFF REPORT

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, which means it’s Pink Card time at Tanger Outlet Center.

Tanger Outlet Center’s Pink Card Campaign, in which customers purchase $1 Pink Cards raising funds for breast cancer research, will continue until Oct. 25. The Pink Card may be used for a 25 percent discount on a single item at participating stores at Tanger Outlet, 4015 South Interstate-35. The campaign started on Sept. 15.

“Tanger is proud to join with our retail partners and our customers in a team effort to put an end to this terrible disease of breast cancer,” said Steven B. Tanger, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc.  “Our goal is to help raise and donate the funds necessary for breast cancer research so that a cure and prevention can be found.”

Funds raised by the campaign are donated locally through the Stanley K. Tanger Breast Cancer Fund to Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) Breast Cancer Lymphedema Therapy program and free mammograms for the uninsured. Tanger Outlet Centers contributed more than $7.5 million to the cause since 1994.

Tanger also hosted the Pink Heals 5K run at the outlet center on Sept. 27. More than 300 people attended the event. Tanger partnered with the San Marcos Professional Fire Fighters Association for the event.
