Thursday, alumni registration begins in Carroll Hall from 2-4 p.m. Former students may view displays in the Memory Room and will be given an opportunity to have a campus tour.

That evening features the Homecoming pep rally at A+FCU/Ingram Stadium at 8 p.m. The rally includes the crowning of the Homecoming king, the introduction of the football team and a special video presentation.

Following the pep rally, the SMA senior class will lead the way to light the bonfire on the north end of Neely field. Building the bonfire is a traditional senior project that takes a week to complete.

Friday, pre-game activities start at 7 p.m. at A+FCU/Ingram Stadium and include the introduction of the SMA Athletic Hall of Fame, recognition of the 1974 state basketball championship team and the presentation of the Alumni Association Scholarship.

At 7:30 p.m., the SMA Bears will face the Texas Military Institute Panthers in a rivalry that dates more than eight decades to 1927. At half-time the Homecoming Court will be presented and the queen will be crowned.

Also at half-time, the Captain Paul W.  Pena Outstanding Alumni Award will be presented. The first award will be posthumously given to Paul Pena, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in January.  Pena’s mother, Cecilia Pena, will accept the award on his behalf.

Saturday at 9 a.m., the registration of both alumni and parents will begin for the day’s activities.

The annual alumni meeting will take place at the SMA Dining Hall at 10:30 a.m. The classes of 1950, 1960 and 1985 will be honored for their 60th, 50th and 25th reunions. A luncheon at Kokernot Gynasium will follow.

SMA parents will visit with teachers Saturday morning at an open house from 10:30-noon. Following lunch, the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Bear Battalion will present its fall promotion ceremony at 1:15 p.m.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, the SMA Players theatre troupe will present a performance of “Arsenic and Old Lace” for the parents and students in the Robinson Christian Center. The performance is free and open to the public.

In the evening, SMA students will continue their Homecoming celebration with a dance on campus for the middle school and a dance for the high school at the Wimberley Community Center.
