The Texas State baseball team will play 31 of its 55 games at home in 2011, including visits from Rice, Houston, Baylor, Missouri and Texas Tech.
In addition, Texas State will be the hosts of the Southland Conference tournament, which is to begin on May 25.
The Bobcats announced their schedule this week. Texas State won the Southland Conference regular season championship in 2010.
“This schedule identifies that our team will be taking on great challenges this season,” said Texas State head coach Ty Harrington. “It reflects the caliber of teams that our coaches, fans, students and alumni expect our program to play.”
The Bobcats will play 14 of their first 19 games at Bobcat Field. The season will begin on Feb. 18, when Nebraska comes to San Marcos as part of a four-team tournament that also includes Missouri State and Air Force. The Bobcats will play Missouri State on Feb. 19 and Air Force on Feb. 20.
The Bobcats will be tested early, as Rice travels to the Bobcat Field for a single game on Feb. 23. Akron will be in San Marcos for a three-game series to be played Feb. 25-27.
The Bobcats will play their first road game at Baylor on March 1, then go to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a three-game set March 4-6 to begin a 33-game Southland Conference schedule.
Following the trip to Corpus Christi, Texas State returns home for one game against Baylor on March 8 before taking on Houston for three games in three days on March 11-13. On March 15, the Bobcats will play their first of two games against Texas, both in Austin. The second meeting will take place on April 26.Email | Print
