This year the parks and recreation department is focusing on the San Marcos River and the Wonder World Drive trail head.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the San Marcos Plaza Park stage across from the Grant Harris Building, 401 E. Hopkins, to register, pick up trash bags and grab a breakfast taco with a cup of coffee.

From there the group will split, with half will going to the Wonder World Drive Trail with the San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance to concentrate on the green space and the other half will stay at the San Marcos River. Snorkelers, swimmers, canoeists and bank walkers are invited to join in the event to keep the popular river and trail clean and unpolluted.

Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. The event is sponsored by the city parks and recreation division. For additional information please call Heather Powdrill, community beautification coordinator at (512) 393-8420 or by e-mail at hpowdrill@sanmarcostx.gov.
