The Texas State volleyball team will finish its five-match road trip Wednesday at Texas-Arlington before returning to Strahan Coliseum Saturday for the first of four straight matches at home.
The Bobcats split their matches last week, setting their record at 10-8 overall and 3-1 in the league. They lost to Lamar in five games on Sept. 30 before beating McNeese State in four games last Saturday.
Texas State will play Saturday at Strahan Coliseum against Northwestern State (2 p.m.).
At 3-1 in the league, the Bobcats are tied on top of the West Division with Texas-San Antonio. Central Arkansas (5-0) and Lamar (4-1) lead the East Division and the league, which takes the top eight teams, regardless of division finish, to the conference tournament.
The Bobcats lost at Lamar by scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 22-25 and 17-15. Shelbi Irvin reached her seventh double-double of the season with 29 assists and 11 digs. AJ Watlington had 15 kills, with Amber Calhoun adding 10.
The Texas State victory at McNeese State, much closer than a four-match result suggests, came by scores of 25-22, 23-25, 25-22 and 26-24. Amber Calhoun finished the match with a .667 hitting percentage and 16 kills.
McNeese held a 19-16 lead in the fourth game before the Bobcats rallied with six of the next eight points for a 22-21 lead.
