The schedule makers didn’t do the Texas State volleyball team any favors by sending them on the road for their first five matches in the Southland Conference.
However, the Bobcats are in the midst of making it work out. After winning two matches on the road last week, the Bobcats are 2-0 in the league. Whether they will be 5-0 in the league when they finally return to Strahan Coliseum on Oct. 9 remains to be seen.
The Bobcats beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in three games last Friday, then went to San Antonio the next day and polished off Texas-San Antonio in four matches.
Next, the Bobcats play at Lamar on Thursday, at McNeese State on Saturday, then at Texas-Arlington on Oct. 6.
The sweep of Corpus Christi came off in three tight games by scores of 27-25, 25-17, 30-28. Freshman Amari Deardorff led the way with 12 kills.
The victory at UTSA went 25-22, 22-25, 25-15 and 25-16. Shelbi Irvin and Caleigh McCorquodale each double-doubled. Irvin had 13 digs and 33 assists, while McCorquodale had 11 digs and 17 assists.
The Bobcats are 9-7 overall.Email | Print
