The Texas State soccer team has won three straight games and four of its last five after a 3-1 win Sunday at Houston Baptist.
Britney Curry, Kelsey Bernard and Felicia Leask scored for the Bobcats in support of goaltender Lauren Frazier, who made two saves to earn her fifth win of the year. Houston Baptist took a total of four shots.
The Bobcats, 5-4, play again Sunday at Texas Christian (1 p.m.).
Before playing Houston Baptist, the Bobcats notched lopsided wins of 5-0 at Grambling on Sept. 12 and 4-0 at home against Prairie View A&M on Sept. 17. Britney Curry scored three goals in the Grambling game, with Kelsie Townsend and Sydnee Curry also scoring. Britney Curry scored twice against Prairie View, with Serena Hines scoring the other goal.
The Bobcats last lost a game on Sept. 10, when they fell, 2-1, at Louisiana Tech. Britney Curry scored the only Texas State goal, coming in the 86th minute when the Bobcats trailed, 2-0.
Curry’s hat trick against Grambling and lone goal against Louisiana Tech earned recognition as the Southland Conference offensive player of the week on Sept. 14.
Curry, a senior from Cypress, has scored eight goals in Texas State’s nine games. Last season, Curry set the all-time single-season record at Texas State with 18 goals. Curry already held the Texas State career record with 37 goals entering this season, and now that mark is up to 45.Email | Print
