Musicians John Kirk and Trish Miller will be featured for the first performance in the Supple Music Series at the Price Seniors Center.
The Price Seniors Center, 222 West San Antonio Street, will be the site of the first performance in Texas’s State’s Jerry and Cathy Supple Folk Music Series on Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. Musicians John Kirk and Trish Miller will be featured.
Kirk and Miller are a folk ensemble from upstate New York who possess a wide array of folk music varieties from Americana to Canadian to Celtic. The pair has been together for more than two decades and will be accompanied by Mark Cosgrove on guitar and Rick Wood on bass.
Events coordinator Liz McDonald from Texas State’s College of Fine Arts and Communication, said that while the artists are in San Marcos, they also will give master’s level classes to selected Texas State students.
Miller will be part of a master’s dance class under the direction of Kaitlin Hopkins in the musical theater program. The national flat-picking guitar champion Cosgrove will be a guest for Grant Mazak’s master’s guitar students.
The Supple Music Series is organized by the College of Fine Arts and Communication and is part of the University Encore Performing Arts Series. Corporate sponsorship is provided by CenturyLink.
Tickets for the performance at the Price Seniors Center are $10 and include coffee and dessert after the concert. Seating is limited to 100. Tickets may be purchased online at www.encoreseries.txstate.edu/collegefeature.html.
