207th State District Judge Jack Robison on Monday sentenced a convicted child molester to 18 life sentences, most of which will be stacked one after another instead of running concurrently.
Jimmy Duran Lopez, 39, of Austin will not be eligible for parole until he has served a minimum of 120 years.
Robison also ordered Lopez to pay $100,000 in restitution to the victim, who was abused over a period of six years starting when the child was eight years old, said Assistant District Attorney Amy Lockhart, who prosecuted the case.
Lopez pled guilty in August to 13 counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and five counts of sexual assault of a child, all first-degree felonies. Because Lopez had been previously convicted of two felonies, each of the counts carried a possible sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
