Due to the tropical rain storm that pelted the Interstate-35 corridor Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, Hays County Fire Marshal Mark Chambers has lifted the burn ban that went into effect last week.
Chamber said the ban will remain lifted until conditions warrant reinstating it.
However, the rain also compelled county officials to close down its parks at Five Mile Dam on the Blanco River to ensure public health and safety.
Hays County Parks Director Jerry Pinnix said high, fast-running water filled with debris such as logs, along with the potential for higher bacteria counts due to runoff, make the area unsafe for visitors. The parks will remain closed until further notice.Email | Print
