Hays County Crime Stoppers is assisting the San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) in a felony fraud-credit card abuse crime from July.

On July 22, at approximately 7 p.m., a female left her purse in a shopping cart at the Target store in San Marcos, located at StoneCreek Crossing. After putting her purchases in her car in the Target parking lot, the victim immediately returned to where she had left the shopping cart, and the purse was gone.

At 7:20 p.m., an unidentified black female made a purchase at the Target store with the victim’s credit card and was photographed leaving the store with the victim’s purse in her shopping cart. During the next several hours, the suspect went on a shopping spree, using the victim’s stolen credit cards at several other locations in the San Marcos area, the last of which was the Sac-N-Pac store at the corner of East Hopkins Street and Cheatham Street.

SMPD investigators have no leads as to the identity of the suspect and need help to solve the crime.

Anyone with information that could help the SMPD solve this felony crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 324-TIPS.
